SOVA - Safe Guarding Adults From Abuse

Description - To raise the level of awareness of people who are involved with vulnerable adults, thus being able to recognise abuse, and know their roles and responsibilities.

Course Content 

  • Understand the Legislation associated with adult abuse

  • Learning the different definitions including what is abuse and vulnerability

  • An in depth look at the different categories of abuse including examples in each category

  • Explanation of the general indicators of abuse

  • Understanding what must be done if abuse is seen or suspected

  • Understanding the process of an investigation and how organisations work together

​

  • Understanding the importance of confidentiality and whistleblowing

​

  • Understanding how the Mental Capacity Act is connected to adult abuse.
